Why imported videos are not monetized

Any videos imported to Black Junction Tv from outside web sites (Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, etc) will not show advertisements or be monetized. We cannot run advertisements on these videos because many of the imported videos are imported by users who do not own the videos.

According to Yotube’s Terms of Service,

You grant each user of the Service a non-exclusive license to access your Content through the Service, and to use, reproduce, distribute, display and perform such Content as permitted through the functionality of the Service and under these Terms of Service. ~~ [youTube TOS part 6C]

This basically means the owner of the video grants the public permission to embed the video on any web site simply by leaving the embed option on (which is part of the functionality of the youTube Service).

Our Import feature is equivalent to embedding a video on the site. We do not host imported videos on Black Junction Tv. The physical video remains on the server of the web site it was imported from. This is why it is not considered a copy write infringement to Import or embed videos on the site.

However, running paid advertisements and making money off other people’s videos/content is a different story. We cannot Import someone else’s video and make money off their work. Not only could it lead to legal ramifications, it is also unethical.
